Message from the 2009 Ambassador - Gillian D'Alleva

Hello
my name is Gillian D’Alleva and I am proud to be the 2009 Brooklin
Spring Fair
Ambassador. It is my pleasure to welcome
those of you returning to the Brooklin Spring Fair, who know what an
excellent
venue it is for promoting agriculture in Ontario. I
am also pleased and excited to welcome
people who may be new to the Brooklin Spring Fair, as a truly fun and
memorable
experience awaits you.
The
most exciting event and biggest honour for me was being crowned as the
Brooklin
Spring Fair Ambassador. This was a
responsibility
that I took very seriously but also had a tremendous amount of fun
with, as I
represented the fair for the weekend.
Some of the weekend activities that I was able to
participate in were
handing out the prizes and ribbons to winners at the baby show, the
demolition
derby, the dairy competitions, and to be in the parade, and walk
through the midway. One of the best
highlights of the fair for me
was meeting the other contestants in the competition and spending the
weekend
with them, participating in all the events together, and instantly
developing a
friendship.
One
of the events that I have participated in throughout the year was the
Ontario Association
of Agricultural Societies Annual Convention in Toronto.
This was such a great opportunity to meet the
ambassadors and fair board members from all different fairs in Ontario,
as well
attending some very informative seminars.
I
will certainly cherish the memories I have
made as the ambassador and look forward to further activities as the
year
progresses. I am eagerly awaiting the
opportunity of representing not only the Brooklin Spring Fair, but the
Brooklin
community as a whole, at the 2010 CNE Ambassador of the Fairs
competition at
the CNE in August.
I
would encourage other young people to participate in the Brooklin
Spring Fair Ambassador
Competition for the unique experiences it provides; meeting people,
growing
personally, participating in many fun events, and the opportunity to
proudly
represent the Brooklin Spring Fair for a year.
I am absolutely delighted that this opportunity and honour
was given to
me. Thank you.
