Welcome to the 108th Brooklin Spring Fair. My name is Samantha Grandy and I am pleased to introduce myself as the 2018 Brooklin Spring Fair Ambassador. This past year as your ambassador has been one of the most rewarding times in my life. It has been a year filled with new experiences, new friends, and once in a lifetime opportunities.
Last June I started off my title year with the George Canyon concert in the rain – what a magical experience to be a part of. Music and dancing in the rain with a crowd full of dedicated fair goers. I enjoyed the weekend full of demolition derbies, the truck and tractor pull, agricultural exhibits, and home crafts displays. I had the privilege of presenting awards to deserving participants throughout the fair weekend. One of my favourite memories will be riding in the parade with Rebecca Browne the first runner up and Taylor Bailey the Mini Ambassador.
This past year I have represented the Brooklin Spring Fair at the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony in Brooklin, in the Whitby Santa Clause parade, and at the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS)Convention held in Richmond Hill. The OAAS Conference was a wonderful opportunity to meet all the other ambassadors of Ontario fairs. In August of 2019 I look forward to representing the Brooklin Spring Fair at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE).
During my time as ambassador I have learned so much about the fair and our agricultural society and what makes us unique. I strongly recommend to other young adults in our community between the ages 17-23 who are looking for a leadership role and wanting to represent our community to apply for the program. I look forward to crowning the 2019 Brooklin Spring Fair Ambassador and I invite you all out to come watch the Ceremonies Thursday evening of the fair.
I wish you a safe and “mootastic” time at the 2019 Brooklin Spring Fair.
